Mr. Donovan Arnott Jr., 94 of Lee County died Thursday May 1, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held Saturday 2:00PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Dr. William D.(Biff) Coker will be officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery in Americus, GA.
Born in Nappanee, IN, Mr. Arnott went to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the U. S. Navy where he served as a Pilot during WWII. Following the Navy he graduated with his Master's Degree in Forestry from Purdue University and was former owner of Arnott Timber Company.
Mr. Arnott was a long serving Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, AL, and he was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, dancing, fishing, golfing and being with family.
Survivors include his wife Lois Arnott of Leesburg, GA; 2 sons Bruce Arnott and his wife Etta of Jackson, AL; John Terry and his wife Clare of Leslie, GA; a daughter Nancy Beamon and her husband Allen of Leesburg; a sister Mary Tobias of Nappanee, IN; Grandchildren Will Arnott, Travis Arnott, Kim Herrin, Patrick Terry, James Terry, Kaki Ward, Nikki Ferguson, Bart York, Craig Beamon, Wesley Beamon and Todd Beamon; 20 Great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church Parlor.
