Mrs. Dorothy Peacock Madding "Grandma Dot", 95, passed away August 27, 2014 at her home, 2712 Brittany Rd. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church, 505 Byron Plantation Road, Albany. Rev. Jeff Cook will officiate.

Born May 28, 1919 in Columbus, GA, she was a resident of Albany since 1988. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and served on the Worship Committee.

Mrs. Madding was a former school teacher in the Muscogee County School District. She was a former member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, NEA, and GEA. She served as Den Leader in the Cub Scout Program in five Packs and began a Den for the handicapped boys in Pack 400. Mrs. Madding touched many lives with her acts of kindness and selflessness which included her baby blanket making, origami teaching, writing notes of encouragement, and Grandma Dot Camps and activities enjoyed by many school children as well as her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always using her motto "Eat Dessert First".

Mrs. Madding was preceded in death by her husband LTC Albert Scott Madding and her son Albert Scott Madding Ill. She is survived by her children, Camilla T. Madding, daughter-in-law of Simpsonville, SC; Ann M. Zyglocke (Walter) of Chesterfield, VA; Marilyn M. Bridge (John) of St. Petersburg, FL; and Patty M. Singletary (Don) of Albany, GA. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her sister-in-law Mrs. Claire Rogers Peacock of Tifton; nieces and nephews Emily Speight of Greensboro, GA, Dr. J.L. Peacock (Florence), Chapel Hill, NC, Claire P. Helms (Wayne), Dothan, AL, and Laurie P. Jordan (Zack), Apopka, FL.

The family will have a service at a later date at the Ft. Benning Cemetery.
