Hazel Yancey Swain, 87, of Albany, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Morningside Assisted Living.

Her funeral service will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Central Baptist Church with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. The Reverends Rodney Stamey, Ken Chancellor, and Greg Davis will officiate.

Mrs. Swain was born in Bullock County, AL, and she had lived in Albany since 1967. She was raised in Ft. Gaines and graduated from high school there. Mrs. Swain was a former member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She retired from Griffin Construction in 1993. Mrs. Swain was a member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), and was a volunteer at Palmyra Hospital as a "Pink Lady" for 16 years, beginning in 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Swain, and by her sister, Ruth Ragan.

Mrs. Swain is survived by two daughters: Sherry Flournoy and her husband Danny, Albany, Kristina Paul and her husband Richard, Leesburg; a son: Michael Swain and his wife Diane, Napperville, IL; 4 grandchildren: Kenny Flournoy, Sr, Kevin Paul, Brian Paul, all of Albany, Lindsey LaChiana, Winter Garden, FL; 7 great grandchildren; a sister: Christine Cobb, Lee County; a brother: James Troy Yancey, Georgetown.

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Monday from 6-8 PM.
