Howard Delane Fowler, 72, died Wednesday September 3, 2014 at The Willson Hospice House. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00PM at First Baptist Church of Albany. Visitation will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 at Kimbrell-Stern from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Dr. William "Butch" Knight will officiate.

Mr. Fowler was an Eagle Scout, was a member of the Order of the Arrow, and earned the Beaver Award. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Albany where he served as Deacon. He participated in several ministries at First Baptist Church including, Handyman Ministry, Bus Ministry, Counting Team, Camp Hawkins Mission Team and First Baptist Water Station coordinator for the Albany Marathon. Howard was a 1965 graduate of Auburn University where he received a degree in Textile Engineering and a graduate of Georgia Southwestern, earning his Masters in Business Administration. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking, traveling, fly fishing and grilling, but his greatest love was God and his family.

He married the love of his life, Rachelle Reed Fowler. Howard and Rachelle met at First Baptist Church; they both attended the singles class at the church. At the time they met, Howard did not have custody of his two daughters who were 12 and 10 at the time and let her know custody of his girls was a priority. With her help, he was finally able to achieve that goal and on October 19, 1980, his girls came to live with him. The next year on June 27, 1981, Howard and Rachelle married and went on to have a wonderful life, with their marriage lasting 33 years. Their love for one another and the respect he had for his wife is an embodiment of how God intended marriage to be. Howard's life was lived by example. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Delaney and Alice Joiner Fowler as well as an infant sister, Jackie Fowler.
Survivors include his wife, Rachelle Fowler of Albany, 2 daughters, Anissa Lane Fowler of Norcross, GA and Dee Glazier and her husband, Ted, of Newnan, GA, a foster daughter, Jamie Barcroft and her husband, Clay, of Jackson, TN, a sister, Linda McCord of Vidalia, GA, 2 grandchildren, Thomas Glazier and his wife, Lauren of Richmond, VA and Leah Glazier of Newnan, GA, special nieces and nephews, Lisa and Jon Spurlock of Decatur, AL, Johnathan Spurlock of Auburn, AL, Michael Reed of Moultrie, GA, Brian Reed of Winterville, GA and Walker McCord of Vidalia, GA. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff at Phoebe Putney Hospital as well as all the caregivers at The Willson Hospice House.

Memorials may be made to The Journey at First Baptist Church of Albany, 145 Oakland Parkway, Leesburg, GA, 31763 or to The Willson Hospice House 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, GA 31707.
