Eva Phillips Sauls (Mrs. Earl Wade Sauls Sr.) 93 of Albany, Georgia, died June 16, 2012 with her family by her side at the St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens, Ga.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 20 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church Albany, Ga. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Pastor Dr. William (Butch) Knight will officiate.
Mrs. Sauls was a native of Cuthbert, Georgia, and moved to Albany, Ga. with her family in 1956. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Wade Sauls Sr. of Albany, Georgia and granddaughter Kristen Sauls Oliver of Hartwell, Georgia. Born July 24, 1918, at her home in Randolph County, Ga., Mrs. Sauls, known as "Gran" to her loved ones, was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love will continue to effect generations to come. Her favorite pastimes were spent fishing, gardening, and enjoying life with her family and friends.
Mrs. Sauls attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, Ga. After graduating, she furthered her education in Macon, Ga. at business school. Mrs. Sauls worked as a bookkeeper at Fort Benning, the REA/EMC and retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga. in 1981. Mrs. Sauls was a member of First Baptist Church, Albany, Ga.
She is survived by her children: Earl Wade Sauls Jr (wife Tappie) of Albany, Ga., and Jan Sauls Oliver (husband Cliff) of Athens, Ga. Grandchildren: Derek Sauls (Susan) of Baytown, Tx., Janna Oliver Nimmo (Travis) of Athens, Ga., and Claire Oliver Thomas (Justin) of Coral Springs, Fl. Great-grandchildren: Pearce Sauls, Rowland Sauls, Grace Sauls, Taplin Sauls, Karoline Nimmo, and Oliver Wade Thomas.
The family will receive friends Tuesday June 19 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern and also at her residence 4907 Van Cise Ln. Albany, GA. Those desiring may make memorials to First Baptist Church 145 Oakland Pkwy, Leesburg, GA, St. Mary's Hospice House Bogart, GA or to a favorite charity of your choice.
