Mrs. Patricia Heath Blackshear McDaniel, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday Feb. 15, 2012.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday Feb. 18, 2012 at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Garrett Andrew will officiate.
Patricia was born in Americus, GA on August 17, 1932, the second child and only daughter of Robert and Jewell Bridges Heath. The family resided in Leesburg, GA where Patricia spent her childhood. She attended Georgia Southwestern College, after graduating from Lee County High. Patricia completed her studies at Valdosta State College, where she earned a degree in education. She taught elementary school in Lee and Dougherty County for several years. Patricia enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook and hostess, an avid reader, and for the last 22 years, a wonderful grandmother. She was a charter member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, but more recently, was a member of First Presbyterian Church
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dan Blackshear and a brother, Robert Heath, Jr.
Patricia is survived by her husband Gerald McDaniel of Albany, daughter, Bonny Blackshear Dorough and her husband Bo of Albany, son, Danny Blackshear and his wife Rebecca of Albany, step-son, Gene McDaniel and his wife Beth of Tifton, GA, grandchildren, Sanders Dorough, Daniel Dorough, Burton Dorough and Julia Long all of Albany, nieces, Jane Heath Hawkanson and her husband Jim of Mercer Island, WA, Jackie Logue and her husband Stan of Albany, a nephew, Bobby Heath and his wife Jeannie of Athens, GA, a special cousin, Barbara Bell, a devoted friend, Rushie Bell Bridges and Danny Moore all of Albany.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers, whose dedication and compassion were such a blessing to Patricia during her illness: Helen Lumpkin, Lucille Smith, Jessica Miller, Velma Terrell and Lacearn Smith.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Bo and Bonny Dorough which is located at 407 DuVernet Lane in Albany, following the interment.
