Mrs. Retha Melton, 96, of Merritt Island, Florida formerly of Albany GA, died February 16, 2012 with her son Dr. William C. Melton and her daughter Dorothy Calley by her side at Island Health & Rehab on Merritt Island. Funeral services for Mrs. Melton will be Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM from Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Albany with Rev. Russell Anglin officiating. Visitation will be held ONE HOUR prior to her funeral service.

Mrs. Melton was born in Baconton, GA. on March 15, 1915 to the late Harrison and Cora Johnson Wills. Mrs. Melton worked as a practical nurse having worked at both Phoebe Putney and Palmyra Medical Center before retiring in the late 1970's. She was married to the late Gus C. Melton for 45 years until his death in 1986. She was a member of Mercedes Baptist Church of Albany.

Mrs. Melton is survived by two sons: Dr. William C. Melton of Atlanta and Mr. Gene Melton and his wife Dee also of Atlanta, GA. two daughters: Mrs. Dorothy Calley of Cape Canaveral, Florida and Mrs. Mary Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska. Fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
